Objectives

My researches concern particularly the areas of activities :

Physics / Biology / Chemistry

Education / Training

R/D / Science / Scientific Research

My dual training program in both organic chemistry and biochemistry gave me the opportunity to easily comprehend biological problems through a chemist’s eye. It has also given me the chance to better myself and my scientific skills while allowing me to occupy a turn point position in a medicinal chemistry laboratory; on the verge of both exciting sciences.

While actively participating in modern research projects for the past five years, I have also developed a passion for reading, writing and reviewing scientific publications. The daily usage of computers has granted me multiple computer skills. My very rich teaching experience has given me a new point of view in science. As a matter of fact, being able to teach chemistry (both organic and inorganic) is no easy task. It requires dynamism and a very strong communicational aptitude.

I strongly believe that my intensive scientific training and my love of scientific specialties such as organic chemistry, biochemistry and biology, along with my general enthusiasm, perfectionism, organizational and communication skills, will be the keys to my integration in your group.

I am currently looking for a position in research & development in both industry or academia.

Analytical methods

September 2002
October 2005

Doctoral fellow

University Louis Pasteur - Strasbourg, France

September 2002 October 2005

Mission : Five series of hybrid compounds bearing a long chain fatty alcohol and a quinol ring (Quinol Fatty Alcohols) were synthesized. C-alkylated QFAs were obtained by a Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction between various arylbromides and terminal alkynes. N- or O-alkylated homologues were obtained by SN2 type reactions.
These different compounds have very good antioxidant activities in their demethylated form sometimes reaching a hundred-fold increase relative to Trolox®, a known antioxidant. On the other hand, the QFAs, and especially QFA15, bearing 15 carbon atoms on the side chain, have the capacity to promote axonal growth. QFA15 allows proper axonal extension at nanomolar concentration, on both normal and inhibitory substrates.

Means : * Organic syntheses
* Solid support synthesis
* Analytical methods
* Bibliographic tools
* Computer skills
* Cell biology & Neuroscience

Appraisal : * 5 scientific publications
* 2 patents
